For sale is Peter Hook's personally-owned Bassman Ten, dating from 1977.
 
This is a brilliant bass amp in its own right, made all the more special by its fully-documented ownership by arguably one of the most influential bass players of the 20th century, Peter Hook (of Joy Division, New Order, etc...). 
 
This was purchased by Peter from Sounds Great (Chedale) in 2000 and was used to record the soundtrack of The Beach (Leonardo DiCaprio), specifically on the track 'Brutal', while also being mixed in to all of the bass sounds on New Order's 'GET READY' (2001). It was last sold at the 'Peter Hook Collection' auction which featured a number of Peter's pieces, stretching from the Joy Division period-present. Full provenance included, including the CD albums the amp was featured on and a lanyard from the auction. The serial (A76015) is further concurrent with that featured in the original auction listing.
 
When I acquired this it appeared to have very little work done - both a good and bad thing, as it has not been meddled with since Peter's ownership, though did need a good service to bring it up to modern safety standards. This work was undertaken by Martin at Coopersonic Nottingham (the best in the business) who sympathetically serviced the leaky caps added a (missing) matching pair of 6L6s, and replaced one 12AX7. It is now playing brilliantly, and there weren't any undue mods or much in the way of previous work.
 
These are fantastic (and underrated) bass amps in their own right - all-valve, 4x10' speakers, 50w of power and a (very helpful) Master Volume meaning that the wonderful gain sounds can be used at a moderate volume. The 2 input channels are unique and provide a nice variety of tonal options. Importantly, it can be made to sound very Joy Division/New Order when played using a Rickenbacker or similar and a bit of chorus. A really, really nice bass amp.
 
I will require collection on this one as it is impossible to post given the weight, however if you are relatively local I can look at roping in a friend with a large car to deliver for petrol. Naturally, I don't want to risk sending something as special as this in a regular postal service, though I'm happy to consider specialist couriers such as Lenspeed (highly recommended).
