A lovely now discontinued Martin model DC-160GTE acoustic guitar dating from 2009, made in USA.
 
This was a favourable higher-end acoustic by Martin, built with performance in mind. As such, it features many desirable specs including some excellent tonewoods, cutaway body and a rather nice factory-installed Roland pickup with preamp. 
 
A really great player - these models were aimed at performers for obvious reasons and while it shows signs of play, it's clearly been well looked after. There is a notable ding to the top on the treble side (pictured) and some authentic play wear to the sound hole area (pictured). It is however all original, fairly clean and has been kept in its original fitted Martin hard case when not in use.
 
The top is of course Solid Sitka Spruce, the 3 piece back is referenced as being constructed of 'Solid Ovangkol Wings' with a 'Solid East Indian Rosewood Wedge' and Solid Ovangkol sides. This is my first experience with this wood frankly and it's rather beautiful - like a mellow Rosewood with a lovely tight grain pattern. The fingerboard is referenced as being Black Richlite - an ebony analogue which again presents a lovely tight grain. 
 
The body is double-bound, with binding to both the top and back of the guitar framing the wood handsomely. The necks of these models are listed as being 'select hardwood', which too has a striking grain and is delicately figured throughout. 
 
The pickup is a Roland 'AP1' unit, fully active and powered by 2x AA batteries to a separate compartment. It's rather good, providing a natural sound with the option to blend between the body/mic signal to mitigate feedback, also featuring a handy built in tuner. 
 
It comes complete with its classic original Martin green-lined hard case, which complements the guitar well.
