A Squier 20th Anniversary Stratocaster dating from 2002, made in China.

Being produced 20 years after Squier's inception in 1982, this model marks the anniversary of the brand and as such features a commemorative neck plate to the back.

This is a heavily-used guitar and bears marks to show it, most notable is a fairly large scrape to the side.

However, I feel this period of Squier Strats offer rather decent value for money by modern standards. Back in 2002, they were still using real rosewood on the fingerboards. For context, they don't even use rosewood on the contemporary Mexican-made, Fender-badged Player Series Strats (they use Pau Ferro, which is far cheaper). So, I find this is quite a nice feature for a 'budget' model., comparatively. Paired with a nice maple neck and 'big' 70s headstock, which to my eye further makes it appear much more like a 'vintage' Fender, despite the Squier logo.

This guitar has a lot of natural ageing and the plastics have cracked and oranged around the screw holes - but again, it makes it look a lot closer to a vintage Fender. It's not pretending to be anything otherwise, you simply get a lot of nice features for the money. The pickups are the stock/factory generic alnico units that they used on all Squiers at the time. No, they're not Custom Shop sounding - but they're decent, fairly hot and incredibly 'Stratty'. Frets are in surprisingly decent condition, the action I've set comfortably low and it's playing really nicely. And it's quite lightweight!

Oh, and it includes the original tremolo arm and an old, period Rotosound strap. And free postage. I'd buy it!
