Gibson Limited Edition Flying V '98' Anniversary model, dating from 2000 (made in USA).
 
In 1998, Gibson commemorated the 40 year anniversary of the Flying V with a limited edition model (hence the '98' moniker), ending production in about 2001. 
 
It is essentially a 'best specs' flying V, blending the more desirable features of both a '58 and '67 model. It has '67 style headstock with oversize truss rod cover, paired with '58 style 'in line' volume / tone controls. The finish options were full-gloss (not one of the later 'faded' Flying V finishes) and historically-inspired - namely this 'Natural Burst', which is somewhat a nod to the original 'Korina' shade, with a subtle burst to the edges. The neck profile is big - not a Slimtaper. I would call it a 'Medium C', which is Gibson's 'modern' / standard production run '59 profile. Paired with historic spec hardware (standard tune-o-matic/stoptail configuration and jack input to lower body), it makes for a fantastically playable flying V with all vintage stylings. 
 
The pickups are factory fitted 496R (neck) and 500T (bridge) humbuckers, which are fantastic 'modern' humbuckers, with a slightly hotter output than a historic PAF. 
 
100% original, well looked after and free of any breaks, repairs or issues. Complete with its (beautiful) original Gibson TKL 'tan' case, purple-lined and complete with its original 'shroud'. 
 
There is the occasional 'ding' which I've included in the photographs, though again it is a well looked-after guitar, now 25 years old. Some minor surface marks signs of playing wear to the finish from occasional, gentle play. Neck is straight, board and frets in great condition with plenty of life left. 
 
Plays and sounds great, with undeniably attractive aesthetics. Late 90s/early 2000s Gibsons are of fantastic build quality in my experience and this guitar is no exception.
