A beautiful Washburn 'Hawk' model electric guitar, dating from 1980 and made in Japan.
 
This guitar dates from shortly after Washburn's initial venture into electric guitars and was a higher-end member of the Wing Series, featuring a set neck, bound top and a bound ebony fingerboard.
 
The centrepiece of this guitar however is undoubtably its beautiful top, which from my research was referred to as 'Grained Brown' natural by Washburn. It comprises of very highly figured wood - I'm near-certain it's figured mahogany as this seems to be what all of the authoritative sources refer to it as. I have however seen others make reference to Walnut - even Paduak. Regardless, it speaks for itself with regard to aesthetic.
 
The pickups are referred to as 'exposed' style Washburn pickups, though they were clearly going for a Dimarzio aesthetic given the build period and heavy use of cream plastics (it was the 80s, after all). Either way, they sound fantastic. 
 
The neck is constructed of mahogany and of course runs through the body with beautiful decorative veneers either side.
 
In good used condition, with some dings, marks and signs of playing wear which I have tried to capture in the photos. Used, but not abused and playing very nicely with a comfortable low action. The most notable mark is to the bottom side (pictured).
 
Frets in good condition with plenty of life left in them, as is the ebony fingerboard. 
 
All original, save for a brass nut for added sustain and the control knobs which are repros and suit the guitar well. There is a small hole on the treble side horn from a previous strap button placement (now reverted to original).
 
I can include a soft case for shipping, though it will of course be packed very safely for transit.
