This is a single-owner Stratocaster, purchased new in 1979, played once at the time of purchase - and then left untouched for the past 46 years.
As such, it is perfectly preserved, retaining its factory sheen - even the inside of case itself looks brand new. The guitar is wholly unmodified and near as it was the day it left the factory. There is one tiny mark to the left hand body contour, which I have pictured in the last photo. Natural minor age-related lacquer checking to the headstock facade. Other than that, I'd describe it as close to brand new as one can get.
It retains its original hang, factory documentation and even the warranty card, which was filled out upon purchase. Included further still is the original '79 Fender Medium plectrums supplied with the guitar - and of course the original tremolo arm.
The finish is a very rare 'Brown' factory Sunburst - using a very dark Brown/Mocha shade for the Sunburst's outer hue, rather than Black. This gives the guitar a really handsome tint when viewed in the right light - personally, I love it.
As above, all hardware and electronics are wholly original/untouched, including 3x factory grey-backed flat pole pickups provided as standard, at the time. They sound fantastic - really clear, glassy and unmistakably 'Fender' in their character. By 1979 Fender was fitting a 5 way switch as standard, opening up their tonal options considerably.
These models are heavier than 60s Strats - this one for example uses a solid ash body, which of course contributes to the weight. However, one can forgive this as the trade-off is a striking visible grain, beautifully framed beneath the Brown Sunburst finish. This is of course paired with a dark rosewood fingerboard and factory standard Black hardware as standard.
The neck is a fantastic and comfortable big C profile - I really like it. Frets are naturally immaculate/unplayed and the fingerboard is of course made of dark, real rosewood (with pearl dots, by this point).
The case is the original Fender 'moulded' variant that had been introduced around this time and again, is immaculate. One of the latches is a little stiff, which I'll forgive. The inner lining looks untouched and brand new.
A unique opportunity to own what is essentially a brand new 1979 Fender Stratocaster and a perfect addition to any collection.
