A beautiful Guild model D35, dating from 1973 (made in USA).

A fantastic no-frills workhorse acoustic featuring a solid Spruce top with mahogany back and sides. Guild did not suffer the same perceived loss in quality experienced by other American manufacturers during the 70s, with this guitar being a good example as to why.

It is wonderfully lightweight, with a full neck and nut (I believe Guild did not shrink their nut width in the 70s) and a balanced, mellow sound. These are rather nicely balanced acoustic models with a good sustain and volume and sweet sound owing to the solid top.

Pretty much all original, save for a historic professional head fracture repair (not a full neck break) several decades ago (pictured). There is the occasional top crack repair - this was a working guitar from new. The finish is worn, though entirely original. Notable patches of wear to the finish at common playing areas, e.g. the back of the neck, back of body 'buckle rash' area, etc.

Plays beautifully with a comfortable low action and straight neck. The frets have a fair bit of wear, though no problem frets that I can note.

It has never been fitted for a pickup, so the bottom strap button remains untouched. The top strap button is quite, though I'll include a replacement too.

The case is not original as the latches are marked Cheney (UK), however it is most certainly period and likely purchased as the same time as the guitar. It fits it perfectly and has a fetching 70s plush yellow lining.

A fantastic USA-made, early 70s Guild that punches well above its weight.
