For sale is a beautiful Framus model Sorento 6 dating from 1971, made in West Germany.
These are some of Framus' most playable models, in my opinion. They are somewhat of a cross between a contemporary ES-335 and ES-330. The neck meets the body for a 'short' neck like an ES-330/Casino, though the body does feature a small feedback-resisting centre block, like a 335.
The finish is a factory Natural, with a nice darker 70s hue, typical of the time. These models featured a 'faux F hole' (in the manner of Gretsch, pictured) in order to further reduce feedback.
Further, the pickups are quite good - these are Framus' factory standard 'P90' type pickup (they used both a P90 style and a humbucker style), being the better of the two and designed by the legendary Bill Lawrence while still working in Germany. They are punchy, tight and break up nicely.
This is a fairly well-played guitar, with some buckle rash to prove it. It is however otherwise relatively clean for a 50+ year old guitar and apart from some replaced (more reliable) tuners, it's otherwise original. It is date-stamped November 1971 to the body cavities (pictured).
Vintage Framus models can be hit and miss, though this one has a good neck angle, straight neck, decent frets and plays well with a comfortable low action. It also includes its original tremolo arm - which is a nice touch, as these are often lost.
A solid and reliable vintage German-built electric thin line with a unique sound and feel.
