A beautiful Sakai bass, dating from circa 1970s - made in Japan.

One of the notorious 'lawsuit' guitars which saw some Japanese manufacturers straying very close to the designs of their American contemporaries. As such, this bass shares many hallmarks with an equivalent Jazz Bass - namely a beautiful dark, bound rosewood fingerboard with large block inlays.

This one is recently strung with some lovely flatwounds - I'm unsure of the brand but they're in excellent condition and complement to bass greatly.

In pretty great condition for its age, it appears well looked after and is free of breaks, repairs or modifications. I believe these would've come with a bridge/string guard, but as with 99% of these they were removed by the previous owner.

Specs:

  • Country of origin: Japan

Great condition for a 70s bass, evidently well looked after and relatively clean. Some minor dings and the occasional mark /finish swirling, though probably one of the cleanest examples that I've seen. Plays comfortably and sounds great.
