For sale is a wonderful Framus 'Stone Bass', dating from 1969.
I believe this is one of the first mass-produced guitars to ever bear the Rolling Stones' artist name, which Framus attached to this bass following its popularity with Stones bassist, Bill Wyman. These instruments notably has incredibly thin necks, often to referred to as a 'snooker cue' profile.
Besides the Rolling Stones' provenance, these basses had some nice specs including what I believe are (factory) dual Simeto pickups. For those that don't know, the Simeto pickup was designed at some great expense by the East German government at the time. They were often fitted to East German guitars such as Musimas... however given their proximity (and a lack of pickup-makers in Germany, generally) they did find their way onto Framus guitars.
Further, the body is a true thinline - thinner than even an EB-2 (think of a Hofner 'Verithin' bass). This makes it very comfortable to play and naturally lightweight.
This model is near all original, save for a string ferrule and the gold 'Framus' decal - both of which are repros sourced directly from Framus.
Dating from 1969, it is one of the earlier models to feature a full 'poly' finish. This was sprayed in the same vain as contemporary Eko guitars - incredibly thickly. As such, it has developed cracks to the lacquer itself (though of course, not the wood) which I have pictured in detail.
It has plenty of knocks and dings owing to its age, however it is free of structural issues.
Owing to its cosmetic condition and having hung around for a while, I am relisting this at a bargain price. A nice opportunity for a Stones fan or someone looking to branch out into the vintage bass world - without breaking the bank.
