For sale is someone's absolute holy grail - an all-original 1967 Vox Mark VI Acoustic, made in Italy.
 
This is one of the first Vox models to be made in Italy. I believe the English-made models while nice, were a sort of hodgepodge owing to Vox primarily being concerned with amp manufacturer (their necks made by furniture makers G-Plan, electronics by Fenton Weill, etc). Conversely, Eko in Italy had been making high-end electric guitars in-house for some years by this point, so when manufacturing was eventually outsourced to them the result was fantastic guitars, made by experienced guitar builders. 
 
These models were named the 'Mark VI Acoustic', with the 'Acoustic' portion referring to the guitar's hollow body (as opposed to the non-'acoustic', which was a wholly solid body instrument).
 
Naturally, they were made in incredibly small quantities and often have parts changed out, refinishes and are generally meddled with. This example however, save for a (necessary) re-fret, has all of its original parts, electronics and even the elusive (original) 'sunglass' case. And it's original case keys. And the original bridge guard! Need I go on....
 
Atop of the above, it is set up well, playing wonderfully and is sincerely one of the best-sounding guitars of this period that I've seen. The pickups are akin to 60s Fender single coils, with the difference being the huge slugs/pole pieces which give each pickup a really 'hot' sound. The switch is the original 3-way, a nice straightforward circuit, each providing a unique sound in their own right. The trem works well and it has a comfortable low action.
 
What's more, the tremolo system is a cleverly-designed, miniaturised copy of a contemporary Bigsby, made in-house by Eko. The bridge base even has a 'bowtie' footprint - I'm gathering they reverse-engineered it from an actual contemporary USA Bigsby.
 
The headstock bears the classic Brian Jones 'paddle' headstock, which I love. The neck itself is akin to a Fender in design, with a lovely piece of maple adorning a very dark, rich rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays - and of course being an Italian guitar, has a 'zero' fret. The tuners are stamped 'Vox' to the back - they clearly really went to town with attention to detail for this job.
 
Being an Eko-made guitar, the lacquer has experienced the very typical 'cracking', which is wholly non-structural and more owing to how heavily they used to spray guitars (with poly, not nitro) at the factory. There's nothing in the way of breaks, and the guitar is in very nice condition otherwise, clearly having not been mistreated and always kept in its case, well-maintained and original parts retained. They used a lot of chrome on this model - all of which is present, naturally with a fair bit of pitting/hazing. 'Vox' logo to pickguard wholly present, as is the original headstock decal. There is the odd ding to the body and some chipping to the board (clearly from the refret) but again, no breaks, anything I'd call 'damage' and retains all original parts.
 
As mentioned, it comes with its original Vox case, grey with a beautiful orange lining. It is working as it should, though naturally a little tatty for having kept the guitar protected for the past 60 years or so. Rarer still, it retains the original 'Vox - made in Italy' badge to the outer, with working latches and even its original keys in the neck pocket. 
 
A truly rare and desirable guitar, in the same style as those played by The Rolling Stones, Brian Jonestown and just about every 60s garage group at some point!
 
These are rarely seen in sunburst (on my end, anyway) - I believe they made 2 colours and while the red ones are nice, I feel this is the better and lesser-seen colourway.
