For sale is a beautiful Guild 'Mark I' classical guitar, dating from 1967 (made in USA).
These models are a hidden gem of the vintage world, constructed entirely of mahogany and built in the USA by master guitar builders, Guild. They were modestly built and produced in smaller quantities, owing to the increasing popularity of steel strings during the decade. As such, these guitars are getting harder and harder to come across.
As above, it is constructed wholly of mahogany. The consequence of which is a rich, warm and characteristically 'dark' tone - typical of mahogany-bodied guitars. It is wonderfully light (the build quality Guilds of this period are rather good/consistent throughout the decade') with a beautiful full-width, wide and flat neck profile.
Plays beautifully with a comfortable action. Free of any issues, breaks or repairs.
There is some age-related tarnishing to the finish and some discrete playing marks, though ultimately it is a very well kept instrument.
It comes complete with its original and handsome green-lined hard case, which has a beautiful contrast against the dark wood of the guitar.
The previous long-term owner had a strap button and K&K pickup fitted, with 1/4 access to the strap button area. I'm unsure of the exact model, but it sounds great plugged in.
A lesser-known classic American guitar, complete with its original case.
