For sale is a single owner Framus 5/196 'Texan' acoustic guitar, dating from 1967.

I purchased this from the original owner who claimed to have purchased it in 1967 - which I'm inclined to believe given the stylings (notably, the pickguard material which I've seen on electric guitars of the same year).

The Texan, not to be confused with the Epiphone model, was Framus' attempt at a standard dreadnought style 'pop' guitar in response to growing demand in the 60s. It features many typical German/Framus stylings, including the front-angled headstock, 'zero' fret and a bolt-on neck for easy adjustments.

This is a well-used guitar, but is free of cracks, repairs or significant damage and is al-original. The gold foil from the Framus logo has all but perished to time, but the footprint remains visible.

The ornate bridge is factory-fitted via mounting screws, meaning they don't suffer 'lift' in the same manner as a traditional acoustic. The saddle is adjustable, which was another appointment designed to appeal to players. Truss rod fully-adjustable and working as it should.

The neck angle is great, and thanks to the bolt-on construction it's taken a shim very well, leading to a great playing action. Plays well up the board.

This guitar sounds great and is of excellent build quality, having been produced during Framus' 'Golden Period' circa late 60s. It does well to dispel the belief that all bolt on necked guitars are inferior - this one has a really nice sound and I've enjoyed playing it.

The original factory Sunburst finish, which includes shaded sides, is in tact and in good condition. No evident breaks, repairs or issues as above.
