For sale is a super rare (only 1/200) Hagstrom-built, Selmer ‘Futurama’ Coronado Automatic model, dating from 1963.
These were a special commission by Selmer - to Hagstrom - to craft a guitar to rival these Jazzmasters of the era, built to Ben Davis’ exact specifications.
They were offered in ‘Glowing Red’ and even rarer still a Fade Brown Sunburst - with this being one such example.
This one is wholly original and from a single owner, who purchased it brand new at Selmer in 1963.
There are some fantastic sounds to be had from the elaborate tone controls - all of which are working perfectly and offer combinations of the various pickups in varying configurations.
It is all original and even includes its original Selmer case. It had a historic neck finish fracture (categorically not a neck break, despite how it looks) to the thick poly finish. This has been filled and sanded to a flush, gloss finish, though it has not been refinished - and could easily be touched up. Despite this being a purely cosmetic blemish, it’s being sold considerably cheaper than the last one to sell in the UK (£2k+).
