For sale is a rare Framus-built Zenith 'Josh White' signature model acoustic guitar, dating from circa 1960s.
Made in Germany, I believe common knowledge is that while these were branded 'Zenith' for distribution in the UK, they were built at the Framus factory.
This is an interesting guitar for being one of the first ever 'signature' models available in Britain. Josh White was an American Jazz/Blues player who had some favour at the time and I believe Boosey & Hawkes commissioned this model for sale in their stores under the brand name Zenith.
It featured a parlour sized body with a wide, almost classical nut - though I believe were designed to be steel-strung. Interesting!
It is strung and plays somewhat, though has many issues that will need attending to. Frets, setup and action etc all need attending to. Neck joint seems relatively secure, though there are many cracks to the top and back and some evidence of previous attempts at this. Bridge will clearly need a reset too as it's currently sat over a large central crack (pictured) to the guitar body.
Personally, I'd recommend attending to these to get it secure then setting it up etc - I'd wished to take on the project but don't have the time and am clearing out several parts/project guitars as a result.
Sold as seen - a great project for someone and I'm sure it'll be a nice guitar once the work is done.
