For sale is a 1960s Kay USA K6535 'Value Leader', the double pickup variant of the model famously played by Jack White.
This is being sold as a project/for parts for the following reasons:
It has had a previous neck reset and finish touch up, though sadly the neck angle still isn't great and the neck itself is somewhat bowed, even with the (working) truss rod at full tension and as such has a high playing action (pictured).
Made in USA and features a 'Faux Flame' Sunburst finish which is most prominent to the sides.
The electronics are putting out no output - I have not investigated as to why, though cosmetically everything appears to be there.
Largely original despite the above issues, near all hardware save for the strap pin and pickguard bracket appears original.
I do not believe this will ever be usable as a regular electric guitar, though of course could have some utility as a slide/blues guitar. I'm imagining there's some scope to re-straighten the neck with some heat, though I have not attempted this.
A shame, as its otherwise in fair condition. I have priced it as such as all the individual parts are desirable in their own right and could most certainly be used as donor parts for an otherwise working guitar. Or, you could attend to the electronics and use it as a slide guitar.
Includes what I believe is the original (or equivalent period) cardboard case, again worth a little in its own right.
