For sale is a lesser-known V bass by 60s German builder, Huttl.
Huttl were in direct competition with Hofner and often shared parts and (liberally) designs.
As such, this is a genuine 60s German-made Beatle Bass - without the Hofner price tag.
In terms of factory Hofner-made parts, I'm gathering the bridge and tailpiece are, whilst the tuners also look Hofner-esque. The pickups (which are original) quite remind me of Framus stylings, so I wouldn't be surprised if that was their origin.
It is pretty much all original, save for the odd screw. The wiring has been touched up, but the components are original.
Despite the lack of truss rod, the neck is straight and the bass plays nicely with a comfortable action.
The finish has worn away somewhat, owing to be a nice 60s lacquer (not a later poly coat). The interesting asymmetric factory neck joint is solid. One evident minor repair to minor split near f hole area.
It sounds great - just like the Hofner equivalent, but a bit of a punchier tone in my opinion (owing to the pickups).
The brass frets are a little on the side low and characteristically shrunken at the edges, but the bass plays well regardless.
A 60s German-made V bass - at a fraction of the price of a Hofner equivalent.
