A rare and interesting 'Penzel' German archtop jazz guitar, dating from circa 1950s.
From my research, these were made by luthier Günter Penzel in West Germany.
It is unique for featuring 2x 'Cats Eye' sound holes, as well as a central, smaller round sound hole.
Very German in its build quality - typical 'zero' fret construction, celluloid inlays and white (faded to cream) headstock facade.
Appears to be all original, with a typical German Sunburst finish, ornate rosewood floating bridge and interestingly, a 'Hopf' branded tailpiece, marked 'made in Germany' and original strip tuners.
The neck is reinforced (albeit, without an adjuster), relatively straight with a comfortable action, taking a set of 12s well.
It has holes concurrent with a previously added neck-mounted pickguard / pickup (pictured).
Some lacquer flaking to the bottom side (pictured) and marks concurrent with a life of careful play, otherwise in good used condition.
The case I believe to be original - it looks typical to the period and fits snugly.
A cool German-built jazz guitar with some handsome features.
